Arthur Leigh Allen enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and served until his honorable discharge in 1959. In 1957, he lost his submarine designator. He experienced more trouble the following year. After being found to be absent from post, he faced a form of non-judicial punishment known as a Captain’s Mast. Minor restrictions were imposed on Allen.
